Dubai
Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern
architecture, and a lively nightlife scene. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) consists of seven
independent city-states: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Qaiwain, Fujairah, Ajman, and Ras
Al Khaimah. Burj Khalifa, an 830m tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its
foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just
offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

Dubai's official language is Arabic and Islam is the official religion. Dubai has a hot desert
climate. Summers in Dubai are extremely hot, prolonged, windy, and humid, and overnight lows
in the hottest month. Most days are sunny throughout the year. Winters are comparatively cool,
though mild to warm.
Dubai is situated on the Persian Gulf coast of the United Arab Emirates and is roughly at sea
level. The emirate of Dubai shares borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast,
and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast. Hatta, a minor exclave of the emirate, is surrounded
on three sides by Oman and by the emirates of Ajman (in the west) and Ras Al Khaimah (in the
north). Dubai lies directly within the Arabian Desert. The flat sandy desert gives way to the
Western Hajar Mountains, which run alongside Dubai's border with Oman at Hatta. The Western
Hajar chain has an arid, jagged, and shattered landscape.
One of the world's fastest-growing economies, Dubai's gross domestic product is projected. A
number of core elements of Dubai's trading infrastructure was built on the back of the oil
industry revenues from oil and natural gas accounts. Dubai is also known as the City of Gold
because a major part of the economy is based on gold trade, with Dubai's total gold trading
volumes.
Dubai has targets to build an inclusive, barrier-free, and disabled-friendly city, which opened as
Expo City Dubai. The city has already brought in changes by introducing wheelchair-friendly
taxis, pavements with slopes, and tactile indicators on the floor for the visually impaired at all the
metro stations.
Tourism is an important part of the Dubai government's strategy to maintain the flow of foreign
cash into the emirate. Dubai's lure for tourists is based mainly on shopping, but also on its
possession of other ancient and modern attractions. Dubai is the fourth most-visited city in the
world based on the number of international visitors and the fastest growing. A great tourist
attraction in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest building on Earth. the most famous
